Revisiting a Dream: Fashion Illustrator Creates a Swimsuit Coloring Book
I’ve been working on a passion project this summer — and it’s almost ready!
Normally, I wouldn’t launch something new during Mercury retrograde, but this project is a return to my past — a forgotten childhood goal — and it feels completely supported (if not inspired) by the current Leo Season.
Leo is all about self-expression, creativity, courage, and visibility.
The New Moon in Leo occurred on July 24. For those who enjoy a bit of astrology, it formed a significant opposition to retrograde Pluto in Aquarius — a powerful alignment that invites us to rethink and revisit who we once were, and to reflect on who we still want to become.
It’s a time to rewrite your story.
As a young illustrator, my dream was to write and illustrate children’s books. Mostly because, at the time, I had limited awareness of what creative careers were available to me as an artist. I had no idea that I’d one day be drawing clothes and designing fabrics for a living.
Back then, self-publishing wasn’t an option. But the world has changed — and so have the possibilities.
No need to pitch to literary agents, wait for years, or give up creative control. I now have full artistic license. And my older self can finally bring together all my fashion experience and flat sketching skills.
So what does this all add up to?
A Bathing suit coloring book — filled with adorable swimwear silhouettes and whimsical patterns, all ready to be brought to life with color!
It feels like the outline of a black-and-white dream is finally being filled in.
